Restaurante La Parroquia in the heart of Taxco de Alarcón offers an authentic taste of Mexican cuisine paired with one of the most captivating dining atmospheres in the city. Situated at Plazuela de Los Gallos 2 in Centro, this gem boasts stunning balcony seating that overlooks the Zócalo and the iconic cathedral, making it an ideal spot to soak in the local culture while savoring every bite.
The menu is a vibrant celebration of traditional Mexican flavors, with standout dishes like the Enchiladas de Mole Rosa and Enchiladas de Mole Poblano that showcase the rich, complex sauces Taxco is famous for. The Pollo con Mole Rosa offers a soulful embrace of tender chicken bathed in a velvety, slightly sweet mole, while the Chile en Nogada delivers the perfect balance of savory, sweet, and nutty elements wrapped in a visually stunning plate. For those seeking lighter fare with authentic flair, the Enchiladas Verdes and Chilaquiles con Huevo stand out with their fresh, tangy, and comforting flavors. Seafood lovers will appreciate the Pescado al Mojo de Ajo, where the garlic-infused sauce enhances the delicate fish beautifully.
Dining at La Parroquia is as much about the ambiance as it is the food. Guests repeatedly praise the breathtaking views from the terrace, perfectly framing the city’s colonial charm. There’s something magical about watching the golden hour light dance over the plaza, as Goyo GTO (GoldenDriller) puts it, the vibrant scene below offers more than just a meal—it’s an immersive cultural moment. Whether you're enjoying a refreshing Paloma cocktail or warming yourself with a soul-soothing mezcal, every sip feels like part of the experience.
Service here consistently earns high marks for being friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable, elevating the overall dining journey. Customers like Sarah Bolton and Simonas Bladžius appreciate the professional yet warm staff, enhancing the comfort and enjoyment of each visit. While some dishes, like the red wine, may fall short of expectations, the menu largely delivers in both quality and portion size, as noted by George and Rick Van Sant, who were particularly impressed by the perfectly cooked vegetables and tender steak in their dishes.
La Parroquia doesn’t just serve food—it invites you to connect deeply with the flavors and sights that define Taxco. It's a place that entices your senses, feeds your soul, and leaves you eager to return, whether it’s for a full meal or simply to savor a cold beer while admiring one of Mexico’s most picturesque town squares.
Come for the view - it has a fantastic vantage over the Zocalo. We sat at one of the balcony tables. The mole rosa enchiladas were fine, as good as any place to try this dish famous in Taxco. My husband got a chicken ham cheese type dish, which he also rated as fine. Stay away from the red wine. The service was good - friendly and prompt. We would certainly return for a beer and the view.
5 stars for the very friendly service and beautiful patio overlooking this Church and Park. 4 stars for the quantity of food on the plate..but we had 3 different items and all were very good.
Wonderfully place. Good food. Great margaritas. Soul warming mezcal. And all of it admiring the wiev of Taxco. The staff is Profesional and helpfull. Enjoyed every minute. Thank you.
We had the tortilla soup (base was rich and other ingredients plentiful, and we had the Arrachera with veggies snd fried. Surprisingly the vegetables were cooked to perfection (not the normal restaurant overcooked), steak tender snd cooked correctly. Overlooks the Zocalo snd the Cathedral, unfortunately the Zocalo is under construction, but the view from the restaurant will be outstanding once construction is completed. Highly recommended
Great spot overlooking the central plaza. This is our second visit. The food is good. The wait staff is friendly and efficient. The perfect time to visit is during the ‘golden’ hour just before and after sunset. The tourists below the terrace seating makes for great people watching.
Served good quality meat and sea foods. Also you can enjoy Plaza night time.
My wife and I Came here for breakfast and had the Parroquia eggs, pretty much huevos divorciados if your familiar with traditional Mexican cuisine. They were delicious compared to other places we’ve had to eat in Taxco. The view of the cathedral amazing as it’s directly in front of it. The service was good as well.
Beautiful view! Excellent food and service! Staff is kind, attentive, and very friendly. Our server Miguel was the best! Highly recommend. Can’t wait to come back!
